Kristin Semi EPCH
The Kristin Semi EPCH is using mooring chain from Ramnäs Bruk. In strong competition Ramnäs was awarded the contract to supply the mooring chains and accessories by Aker Kvaerner and the end user Statoil. With its long history of manufacturing high quality mooring chain, Ramnäs can meet Statoil’s strict requirements to ensure the quality to provide safety at sea. Ramnäs previous chain deliveries to the Statoil projects, Åsgaard A, B and C, conclude good experience with Ramnäs as a reliable partner.
 The production of chains started in the end of 2002 and was completed in the end of January 2004, with a break in production during some months in 2003 to manufacture orders for other customers. The contract was successful, both regarding the actual production of the chain as well as regarding customer satisfaction. The overall impression on our delivery procedures was marked as “Very good” in our customer satisfaction questionnaire.
The total delivery comprised 16.570 metres of 138 mm dia Ramnäs studless anchor chain in quality NVR4, together with a large amount of shackles and connecting plates, all certified by Det Norske Veritas.
 Total weight of the supply was approximate 6.315 metric tonnes. Each link weighed 206 kgs and the approximate weight per metre was 381 kgs. The specified length of each chain varied from 20 metres up to 1000 metres for the bottom chains.
All chains and accessories were proof loaded to 12.052 kN and break loading tests were performed in accordance with classification rules to a Minimum Breaking Load of 17.199 kN.
The chains were delivered to Gävle on the Swedish East coast for onward transportation by vessel to Kristiansund and Stord in Norway.
